    The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has an exciting opportunity for a unique HR professional that will be a pivotal player in shaping SHRM’s 21st century workforce. This is a foundational role that will help build the organizational culture, and employee engagement function in our organization.     Responsibilities

    As the Employee Engagement & Culture leader, you will be …

    • Define the overall people culture strategy for SHRM and engage with leadership to build a healthy, fulfilling, and inspiring workplace experience for our diverse team.
    • Responsible for enhancing employee engagement by improving and maintaining a positive and inclusive culture of collaboration and continued professional development.
    • Responsible for initiatives leading to a high-performance culture which emphasizes
    • Design and cultivate positive experiences at every step of the employee journey, building thoughtful practices that engage and retain incredible employees.
    • Design policies and execute new initiatives in HR and cultural development to serve the diverse workforce, and leverage necessary resources, tools, and techniques to achieve goals
    • Collaborate and partner with the HR Team to understand their goals and initiatives and incorporate them in the different culture initiatives to create synergy in carrying out HR Organizational Strategies.
    • Develop and maintains organizational communications vehicles, such as announcements and newsletters, to ensure employee awareness.
    • Conduct internal audits of all SHRM policies and procedures to ensure relevance, legal compliance and best practices. Keeps up to date with current ER legislation and ensures it is reflective in the SHRM's Human Resource policies.
    • Ensure SHRM is compliant with all new laws, regulations and directives.
    • Oversee the effective administration of all personnel leave (i.e. FMLA, STD, LTD, ADA, etc.) in accordance with federal, local and state law, and SHRM policy.

    • Comprehensive knowledge & understanding of employment laws and regulations
    • The ability to communicate, verbally and in writing. Public speaking skills a plus. 
    • Technically proficient in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems
    • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision. Ability to plan projects, develop milestones and meet specific deadlines.
    • Knowledge of industry benchmarking practices through industry interaction and building external networks
    • Strong relationship management skills; ability to provide consultative advice to business leaders, and to interact with senior leaders.

     

     

    This is what you will need to bring to the table:

     

    • 7-years broad HR experience with designing, developing and supporting organization-wide employee engagement programs, leave administration, compliance, and cultural enrichment activities.
    • 3-years dispute resolution experience
    • Previous employee communications experience (such as newsletters, email blasts, corrective actions).
    • Previous supervisory experience
    • Public speaking - Experience presenting to large groups
    • Experience capturing metrics and producing reports
