    The Role:


    This position provides an excellent opportunity to lead teams of focused and motivated individuals in delivering high value solutions to SHRM's business challenges and growth plans. Project Managers within SHRM's Technology department can positively affect all departments and initiatives within the organization, and offer access to all levels of the leadership team.


    The Senior Project Manager will provide project management, planning and assessment support for Information Technology projects across the organization. This includes responsibility for the planning, development, organization, and implementation of projects within budget and time constraints. Partnering with vendors and internal business stakeholders, the position schedules resources, monitors task completion, ensures projects are delivered according to requirements, and provides innovative solutions to complex functional issues that impact the organization or its business groups


    Your Day:

    • Support new project identification and tracking, project requirements evaluation and functional analysis. This includes collaborating with organization leaders to develop sound business cases for strategic priorities and initiatives.  
    • Gather and organize functional and operational requirements for projects. Validate project concepts with customers and stakeholders. 
    • Prepare proposals and review estimates with project sponsor, project owner, and other stakeholders as necessary. 
    • Conduct cost/benefit analysis as needed for build versus buy decision points. 
    • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. This includes managing all aspects of project activity, organizing and assigning responsibilities to project participants, and disseminating information to the various team members through task and sub-tasks assignment based on requirements.  
    • Track key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers. 
    • Effectively develop and maintain project risk mitigation and contingency plans.   
    • Create and implement communication plans to be used throughout project life cycle.  
    • Develop and implement best practices and tools for project execution and management.  
    • Collect and track key metrics, analyze data and apply business knowledge to improve project/ program execution. 
    • Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, and presentations. 
    • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans to bring projects back on plan or create a new plan with the assistance of key-stakeholders This includes planning for and ensuring adequate project documentation is completed. 


    Must Haves:

    • High School diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Project Management or relevant field is preferred.
    • Project Management Professional and/or other Project Management Institute certification are preferred. 
    • Agile Certified Practitioner and/or Active Scrum Master certification are preferred. 
    • 5 years of experience as a Project Manager including 3 years supporting technology projects is required; 8 years of experience as a Project Manager supporting technology projects, 3 years of experience managing enterprise scale projects, and experience managing programs and/or portfolios of projects are preferred.
    • Excellent problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. 
    • Goal-oriented, action-focused, and highly organized. 
    • Analytical decision-making skills. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, JIRA, and Confluence. 
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
    • Strong presentation skills. 
    • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, operational goals, and objectives. 
    • Excellent task management, organization, and team collaboration skills.
