  • Overview

    The Role:


    This Director, Administrative Services provides leadership and direction over SHRM Facilities and Corporate Real Estate; Environmental Health, Safety and Security; Risk Management and Insurance Administration; Travel Process and Policy; Acquisition and Purchasing Process and Policy; Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.


    Your Day:

    • Manage physical environment from curb to interiors ensuring that facilities and related services meet SHRM business needs including managing construction and other large projects (up to $20M). Manage staff and third parties to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services. Ensure that available lease space is occupied and lessees are performing on their lease obligations.  Obtain and manage third party leases and off site facilities globally as required.
    • Ensure that the Society’s insurance (non-employee benefits) coverages and limits of liabilities are sufficient given its lines of business and associated risks. Direct periodic insurance reviews to validate necessary coverages. Manage insurance broker services, claims, and proceeds. Inculcate a safety, and risk management culture within the organization.
    • Lead the SHRM business continuity and disaster recovery program through planning, mitigation, training and expertise to ensure organizational resiliency during times of disruptions.
    • Oversee the operation of SHRM’s central purchasing operation from the RFP process through the purchase.
    • Manage SHRM's corporate travel policy and system.
    • Represent SHRM interests to local government and civic organizations, ensuring SHRM's adherence to local property laws and representing SHRM as a good neighbor. 


    Must Haves:


    • Bachelors degree with 7 years experience or High School diploma or equivalent with 20 years experience.
    • Experience with Commercial Real Estate Management, procurement, basic risk management and budget management.
    • Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally, including presentations.
    • Understanding blueprints; Familiarity with basic architectural concepts and terms.
    • Understanding of insurance terms and concepts
    • Negotiation skills; ability to work with a wide and varied client base and work on a wide and varied collection of projects.
    • Position requires the ability to oversee contract workers.
