  • Overview

    The Engagement and Culture Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, implementation and development of an employee relations strategy that is aligned with the SHRM philosophy and goals.  This role is tasked with assisting in the successful implementation of initiatives that reinforces a strong and resilient organizational culture through meaningful employee engagement programs.  The specialist ensures the creation of a fair, respectful, diverse and high-performance culture that enables employees to contribute their very best to the organization.


    Your Day:

    • Administer employee relations program which address consistent application of human resources policies.
    • Provide consultation and recommendations to staff and managers in the interpretation of policies and procedures, including recommending training and educational sessions as necessary.
    • Remains current with up-to-date applicable employee relations legislations (local, state and federal) and works with the manager in updating SHRM’s human resources policies.
    • Works with the Employee Engagement Manager in developing an employee relation strategy that is aligned with SHRM’s needs.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with the onboarding of new employees including timely processing of hiring activities in the HR system.
    • Lead the administration of all personnel leave (FMLA, STD, LTD, ADA, etc.) in accordance with the federal, state and local law.
    • Plans, organizes, and facilitates employee engagement events.
    • Supports the development and maintenance of organizational communication vehicles, such as announcements and newsletters, to ensure employees have knowledge of engagement activities and general information.
    • Create measurable standards including but not limited to engagement surveys and reports to ensure the engagement initiatives are effectively meeting the intended results.
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of spending against the departmental budget.
    • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
    • Works effectively as a team member with members of management and the HR staff.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Must Haves:

    • High school diploma. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field.
    • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP required within one year of employment
    • 4 years of experience directly related to administering leave and supporting employee relations programs.
    • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters.
    • Ability to work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Strong collaborative and teamwork skills.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Strong attention to details.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Working knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems.

    This job requires occasional travel 0-10%.



    Experience working with ADP system.
