    The Role:

     

    The Senior Specialist, Regional Engagement is responsible for the member engagement strategy through content, virtual communities and events for a SHRM Region. To achieve this engagement effort, the position works closely with the Exec Dir, Regional Operations and with other departments across SHRM, its affiliates, and external organizations to build relationships, increase recruitment, enhance engagement, SHRM certification and retention of SHRM members. This position plans, administers, and oversees engagement opportunities for Human Resource Professionals in the region by developing relationships and by identifying solutions for HR Professionals through program and content development.

    Responsibilities

    Your Day:

    • Establish and ensure that strategic plan objectives and goals for the regional community engagement are achieved within the timelines and budget established for the program.
    • In collaboration with the Exec Dir, Regional Operations and the Marketing team, implement marketing and communication plans for region program attendance, recruitment and retention of SHRM membership.
    • Develop, manage, and facilitate effective delivery of programs and events designed for HR Professionals in the region. Partner closely with other departments with operational responsibility for these programs to ensure successful events.
    • Create and drive innovative engagement opportunities for HR Professionals by developing opportunities for them to connect and engage as a community, including but not limited to in-person and virtual networks, discussion groups, etc.
    • Develop and manage budget and relationships associated with the member engagement activities, drive revenue, and meet established financial targets.
    • Lead, research, gather and analyze data for the regional community engagement and any relevant competitors in the assigned area.
    • Serve as a resource and advisor to SHRM professional members and other HR professionals in the region.  Provide consultative approach to addressing concerns and interests.
    • Manage the on-line communities of the region.
    • Prepare presentations and communications to be delivered to HR Professionals in the region.
    • Maintain awareness and knowledge of global business trends that impact HR Professionals and key stakeholders in the area.
    • Manage relationships and engagement with Chapters, communities and volunteers through common programs.
    • Manage Committees and volunteer network of the region.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Must Haves:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or relevant field.
    • SHRM CP/SCP within one year of employment.
    • 5 to 7 years of progressive relevant professional experience in an association, non-profit or in a member driver organization.
    • Demonstrated experience in one or more field including project management, business development, marketing, sales, and/or meeting facilitation.
    • Experience writing articles, newsletters, on-line web content and with social media platforms.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills. 
    • Ability to lead and collaborate in a team environment.
    • Self-starter with flexibility in managing ambiguity and uncertainty.
    • Effective decision making skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently and efficiently under deadlines.
    • Excellent, articulate, personable, and diplomatic customer service skills.
    • Proficient in MS office and various social media tools.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Proficient in project management.
    • Acute attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
    • Ability to demonstrate polished executive presence.

    Let us know if you also have:

    • Knowledge and prior experience in Human Resources.
    • Experience working with volunteers.
    • Experience with association, or data management software.
    • Previous experience planning meetings and events.

    Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. This job requires moderate travel 20-30%.
