  • Overview

    The Role:

     

    The Sr. System Engineer works collaboratively with the web/applications development team to deploy and operate our Linux systems. The engineer supports efforts to automate and streamline our operations and processes, and builds and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, staging and production environments and ensure systems security, integrity, and continuous and uninterrupted availability for our Linux Systems.

    Responsibilities

    Your Day:

    • Build, configure and maintain Linux servers running Debian.
    • Configure and maintain Apache/Nginx instances.
    • Automation/Configuration Management using Puppet.
    • Build, configure and maintain docker containers.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, staging and production environments.
    • Design and implement code deployment methods.
    • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.
    • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    Must Haves:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field such as information technology, computer science, and information systems or equivalent combination of technical training and work experience.
    • 5 years experience maintaining various Linux flavors in a mixed environment.
    • 3 years in a System/Infrastructure role.
    • Experience with Linux infrastructures, MySQL, MS SQL, CI/CD tools, scripting such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies.
    • Ability to work autonomously and with a diverse team of developers.Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to translate business requirements into technology requirements and needs.
    • Ability to present ideas and take charge of projects.
    • Container Management (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Cluster configuration automation tools (Puppet, Chef).

    Let us know if you also have:

    • 7 years designing and implementing the infrastructure for building, deploying and troubleshooting production, staging and development systems.
    • Knowledge of SAN environments.
    • Knowledge of virtual environments.
    • Vmware skills (ESXi, Vsphere 5).
    • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OpenStack).
    • F5 load balancer.
    • Powershell scripting.
