The editorial department is responsible for creating news, features, tools, templates, charts and a wide range of interactive features, newsletters, videos, podcasts and books for SHRM.org and HR Magazine.
The Digital Content Editor works across the editorial and creative services teams to identify and shape innovative features and multimedia storytelling on a range of issues important to HR and the workplace. The Digital Content Editor also is responsible for managing the Breaking News Alerts feature and assists with the daily management of content on SHRM's website and digital platforms, the creation and optimization of new editorial content, and relevant social media efforts.
Works directly with each discipline editor to identify and assign multimedia news and evergreen features for all publishing formats and collaborates with the creative services team to execute on the vision and promote the content across digital channels.
Manages the Breaking News Alert feature, including identifying topics, assigning duties as needed and working in concert with editorial team members to prepare alerts and distribute them.
Works effectively with the Digital Content Manager, the Online News Director, the Discipline News Editors and the IT team and accepts guidance and feedback from all to help maintain a high-quality site.
Posts content to social media channels.
Provides production support for all editorial newsletters.
Assists in updating content across SHRM.org in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Uses editorial news judgment to prioritize the importance and relevance of content to SHRM audiences, packaging and promoting content to maximize visits, clicks and time on site.
Works across all SHRM departments to understand their goals and assist in content publishing to achieve those objectives and maintain a high quality site.
Works effectively under deadline to produce timely content while maintaining the flexibility to alter course as needed.
Contributes to the evaluation and implementation new third-party tools and features.
3-5 years of experience creating compelling multimedia, interactive and data visualization features under deadline in an editorial environment
Track record of posting editorial content effectively on social media
Experience with Sharepoint, Drupal and/or other CMS and publishing tools, as well as experience with the range of software needed to evolve a high-quality website
Has proficient knowledge of HTML and CSS, as well as Google Analytics and/or other leading web analytics systems
